God's providence over the animal kingdom is revealed in how perfectly He adapts wild creatures to their surroundings, even in the most unforgiving landscapes. While ordinary donkeys naturally dwell in settlements close to human civilization, God designed the wild donkey to live freely in complete isolation [מלבי״ם, תקות אנוש].

The creature's habitat consists entirely of desolate desert regions, which are divided into two distinct spheres of life. The animal's primary home is located in the general desert wilderness. Beyond this lies the surrounding expanse where the creature runs and roams. These outer roaming grounds are made up of dry, uninhabited salt lands—scorched earth that is entirely unfit for planting or agriculture [תקות אנוש]. This outer environment is considered even harsher and more severe than the main desert habitat [מלבי״ם].

Assigning such an extreme environment to the wild donkey is not a random occurrence, but rather a deliberate design that provides a profound survival advantage. The landscape is so barren and arid that predators cannot survive there, unable to endure the severe lack of water. Yet, God instilled a unique instinct within the wild donkey, giving it the exact ability to locate its food. Because of this divine gift, the creature thrives in absolute safety precisely within these remote and desolate wastelands [אלשיך].
