Those who weave harmful plots find themselves sinking into a dead end, while individuals who nurture positive thoughts and a genuine desire to do good are met with divine care, kindness, and stability. The act of plotting involves deep thought and careful planning [מצודת ציון], often done entirely in secret and hidden from the eyes of others [מלבי״ם]. However, this secrecy inevitably leads to confusion and a profound loss of direction [ביאור שטיינזלץ, אבן עזרא]. Because these individuals operate in the dark, no one is there to witness their missteps and guide them back to the right path. Left to their own devices, they wander away from wisdom and onto a crooked road [מלבי״ם].

This loss of direction also impacts the practical outcome of their actions. Those who plan harm stray far from success, constantly running into obstacles that prevent them from achieving their goals [רלב״ג, עמנואל הרומי]. Their confusion acts as a form of mental blindness; they scheme to hurt others, completely unaware that the harm will eventually turn around and strike them instead [מצודת דוד]. At its core, this wandering represents a deeper deviation from faith in God [אמרי דעת]. Interestingly, the concept of harmful planning extends beyond obvious wrongdoing.
