After enduring a harsh period of famine and severe lack, a dramatic shift occurs as God grants immense abundance and success to the people [אבן עזרא, מאירי]. This divine blessing transforms their reality on multiple levels. The prosperity is experienced both financially and demographically, as God grants them great economic wealth alongside significant population growth through the birth of many children [רד״ק].

The assurance that their livestock will also thrive is understood in two distinct ways. One perspective views this as a biological blessing, ensuring the animals are protected from barrenness and miscarriages. By extension, this guarantees that the women of the community will similarly be protected from such biological hardships [רד״ק, מאירי].

Another perspective highlights the magnitude of the miracle given the harsh environmental conditions. Naturally, this region was infested with snakes, scorpions, and wild beasts known to prey on both humans and animals. The survival and multiplication of the people despite these severe dangers is remarkable in itself, but the specific survival of the livestock serves to correct a potential misunderstanding. One might assume that the wild beasts left the people in peace simply because they preferred to prey on the flocks and herds instead. The reality, however, is that God's providence and protection are completely comprehensive, ensuring that not even a single animal is lost to the jaws of predators [אלשיך].
