King Solomon shifts his focus from the sacred space to the people gathered before him. After directing his attention to God, the king physically turns to face the assembly of the Israelites to offer them a blessing [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The actual words of this blessing are not recorded in this exact moment. Instead, the specific details of what the king says are revealed later in the narrative [רש״י]. Another perspective points out that this is the very same blessing recorded in the parallel historical account in the Book of Kings, which was actually spoken after the prayer [מצודת דוד].

As the king speaks, the entire crowd remains standing to listen to his words [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Their standing posture is more than just a sign of respect or attentiveness. It is a strict requirement based on the laws of the Temple. No one is permitted to sit within the Temple courtyard, as this unique privilege is granted exclusively to kings from the Davidic line [מצודת דוד].
