A mother turns to the prophet Elisha with unwavering resolve, making a powerful oath by the life of God and the life of the prophet himself. The primary approach among commentators is that she makes it absolutely clear she will not let go of him or leave the area until he personally accompanies her. She completely rejects the idea of sending a messenger or relying on any alternative solutions. Her demand is firm: the prophet must be present with her. Compelled by her sheer determination and the weight of her vow, Elisha yields to her request, stands up, and follows her.
