A profound sense of gratitude naturally arises when people recognize the immense abundance and strength granted to them by God. The primary approach among commentators is that this expression of thanks is rooted in the goodness and vast wealth God has generously shared with His people out of His own goodness [רש״י, מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם]. Broadening this perspective, the gratitude also stems from the national greatness and the strength God provides to stand firm against enemy nations [רלב״ג].

Alongside this gratitude, there is a distinct offering of praise directed toward God's glorious name [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This praise acknowledges the specific greatness and victories He has secured for them [רלב״ג]. On a much deeper level, this praise reflects a profound realization about the nature of wealth and giving. The vast riches the people are donating do not actually belong to them, but are entirely God's property. A person merely receives this continuous flow of abundance from Him at every single moment, making the act of giving simply an acknowledgment of His constant provision [מלבי״ם].
