Tracing family lineages provides a clear map of ancestral roots. The detailed family tree outlined at this point belongs to Ethan, a member of the Merari family introduced earlier in the narrative. This lineage traces his roots all the way back to Levi. Interestingly, the Book of Psalms also features a poet and singer named Ethan, who is known there as Ethan the Ezrahite. Despite the shared name, it is quite possible that these are two entirely different individuals [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
