I Chronicles 6:62Sefaria

The process of distributing cities to the Levite families from within the tribal lands finally reaches its conclusion. As the families of Gershon and Kehat had already been settled, the members of the Merari family were the last remaining group waiting for their inheritance [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. More specifically, this focuses on those within the Merari family who had not yet taken possession of their share from the twelve cities provided by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun [רש״י].

From the territory of Zebulun, the Merari family received the cities of Rimmono and Tabor. However, a comparison with the parallel list in the Book of Joshua reveals notable differences. In that earlier record, two additional cities—Jokneam and Kartah—are included, and the names of the given cities differ, with Rimmono originally called Dimnah and Tabor known as Nahalal [רלב״ג].

These discrepancies reflect the later historical reality captured in the Book of Chronicles. The tribe of Zebulun ultimately failed to drive out the original inhabitants from the cities initially designated for the Levites. Because they could not secure Jokneam and Kartah, they were unable to hand them over. Consequently, the Levites only gained practical control over Rimmono and Tabor, a city situated along the border of Mount Tabor [מלבי״ם].
