The universal recognition of God’s greatness reveals a perfect harmony between His identity, His actions, and the worldwide praise He receives. The primary approach among commentators highlights a direct parallel within this reality: just as God’s name is great, the praise sung to Him is equally immense and shared by all people [רש״י, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Because His identity signifies His absolute rule over everything, it is fitting that this praise echoes to the very edges of the world [מצודת דוד].

This global praise is deeply connected to the fulfillment of prophecy. Just as God’s name was spoken by prophets predicting the future, the nations now praise Him as they witness those visions becoming reality [רד״ק]. While His name is intimately known within His sanctuary, His praise across the globe is rooted in the universal recognition that His right hand is filled with justice [אבן עזרא].

In this context, God’s name specifically reflects His attribute as a judge and leader. His praise spreads when the strict fairness of His judgments becomes visible to everyone [מאירי]. Even though God holds absolute power, He does not act out of unbridled anger; rather, His right hand always governs with justice and faithfulness [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

A unique perspective views God’s strict judgment as a form of hidden kindness. According to this approach, even the destruction of Zion does not lessen God’s honor among the nations. Instead, the nations understand that God acted charitably with His people by pouring His anger onto the physical land itself, thereby saving the nation from total destruction and settling for their exile. When the world recognizes the mercy intertwined with His judgment, it creates the true praise that fills His right hand with justice [אלשיך]. This profound awareness bridges the entire world; the praise travels to the furthest borders, and even in those distant corners, humanity acknowledges the perfect justice resting in His hands [מלבי״ם].
