The leaders of the people are entrusted with a massive and highly valuable treasure of silver, gold, and precious vessels. The physical weighing of this wealth serves as a careful counting and tallying process, ensuring the treasure is handed directly and securely into the leaders' possession [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The transfer begins with six hundred and fifty talents of silver. Rather than minted coins, these are raw blocks of silver that represent a highly significant sum of wealth [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. In addition to the raw metal, finished silver vessels are also given over. A total of one hundred silver vessels are transferred, with commentators agreeing that each individual vessel weighs exactly one talent [רש״י, אבן עזרא, מצודת דוד]. Finally, the handover concludes with an additional one hundred talents of gold.
