The nature of this duty is understood in two distinct ways. One perspective suggests an urgency to the task, instructing the carriers to act with speed and haste when handling the treasures [מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון]. Conversely, another approach views the instruction as a call for constant supervision and unwavering alertness, requiring the guards to maintain diligent watchfulness over the precious cargo [אבן עזרא, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This strict level of care must continue uninterrupted until the final moment of delivery. The guards are required to hand over the treasures by an exact count and precise weight to the leaders of the priests, the Levites, and the heads of the families [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The primary approach among commentators is that the chambers of the House of God serve as the final destination for these items. The treasures are weighed before the leaders specifically so they can be securely deposited inside the Temple rooms [רש״י, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. However, a different interpretation suggests that this final instruction refers to people rather than a physical location, meaning the treasures are to be handed over directly to the officials in charge of the Temple chambers [אבן עזרא].
