As families gathered to make the journey back to the land of Israel, their leaders and the number of men in their groups were carefully recorded. Among these returning groups is the family of Shecaniah, guided by a man whose actual first name is entirely absent from the record. Instead, he is introduced simply as the son of Jahaziel.
Because this particular leader was not famous or widely recognized in his own right, the only practical way to identify him was by connecting him to his well-known father [מצודת דוד]. Under the guidance of this relatively unknown son of a prominent father, a total of three hundred men joined the journey.
