The culmination of a grand spiritual event naturally leads to a moment of connection between a leader and the people. After overseeing a momentous occasion, King David shifts his focus from the altar to the gathered crowd. Once the extensive process of bringing the sacrifices comes to a complete close, he turns his attention directly to the assembly to offer a blessing [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

He proceeds to bless the people in the name of God. The nature of this blessing is understood in different ways. One straightforward perspective suggests that David simply invoked the spoken name of God as he delivered his blessing to the crowd [מצודת דוד]. In contrast, another approach ties the blessing directly to the specific context of the event. According to this view, David blessed the people specifically through the name of God that is associated with the Ark of the Covenant, the very Ark where God's presence rests between the cherubim, drawing upon the deep spiritual weight of the occasion [רש״י].
