The royal family records of David contain variations when compared across different historical accounts. Certain sons mentioned in this specific genealogy are noticeably missing from parallel historical records found elsewhere in the Bible. For instance, the name Nogah is entirely absent from the parallel family list recorded in the book of Second Samuel. Similarly, the name of the second Eliphelet is missing from that earlier account.

To explain this discrepancy, it is suggested that these particular sons died while they were still young children. Because their lives were cut short early on, they were simply left out of the other historical record [מצודת דוד].
