The many visitors who traveled to see King Solomon did not arrive empty-handed. Following the established custom of honoring a great monarch, these guests always brought offerings with them. Through this steady influx of tributes, King Solomon amassed enormous treasures [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Among the wide variety of valuable items presented to the king were fine garments and clothing [מצודת ציון, ביאור שטיינזלץ], alongside an array of weapons. This display of respect and wealth was a consistent practice. It became a fixed tradition for these visitors to make a journey to the king once every year, bringing their gifts on an annual basis [מצודת דוד].
