The Queen of Sheba offers a profound blessing that uncovers the deep relationship between a leader's wisdom, a nation's merit, and God's guiding hand. The primary approach among commentators is that Solomon's rise to the throne was not merely a personal triumph or a private favor. Rather, it was a divine gift bestowed upon the entire nation. God appointed Solomon as king out of a deep love and compassion for the Israelites [מלבי״ם, מצודת דוד, אברבנאל].

God provides a nation with a good, wise leader so that he can govern with justice and righteousness, which are the foundations of a people's happiness and security. It is actually the merit of the people themselves that draws down this divine care, resulting in a king who values righteousness [מלבי״ם]. This leader is then able to execute true justice because of his vast wisdom [מצודת דוד, אברבנאל].

There is also a deep historical layer to the Queen's message. Because her kingdom bordered the desert where the Israelites once wandered, her ancestors had personally witnessed the miracles God performed for His people. She acknowledges God's eternal love to show that His kindness has been a constant, unbroken presence, stretching all the way from the Exodus from Egypt to the glorious days of Solomon's reign [חומת אנך].
