The Queen of Sheba openly admits her initial skepticism before meeting Solomon. She had refused to believe the reports reaching her ears, dismissing them as unrealistic exaggerations. It was simply too difficult to imagine a single person possessing both profound intellect and immense worldly success [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Human nature dictates that a person's reputation often swells from a distance, but when a famously wise individual is examined up close, the boundaries of their knowledge and their personal flaws quickly become apparent. With Solomon, however, the situation was entirely reversed. His intellect was not standard or restricted by human limits. Instead, it was wisdom granted by God, functioning like a flowing spring that only produces more water the more it is drawn upon [מלבי״ם].

Faced with this overwhelming reality, she confesses that the initial reports did not capture even half of the truth, as the actual experience vastly outshone the rumors [מצודת דוד]. She acknowledges that his intellect and character far exceeded everything she had heard [רלב״ג, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. His greatness was evident in two distinct ways. First, he possessed deep theoretical and intellectual knowledge. Second, he demonstrated a practical goodness by applying that brilliant mind to the real world. This practical success was visible in his exceptional leadership over the nation and the royal household [מלבי״ם], in his establishment of justice and righteousness across the land [רלב״ג], and in the moral, aesthetic, and functional excellence that marked everything he accomplished [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
