Ezekiel 36:29Sefaria

A deep connection exists between spiritual purity and physical abundance. Removing sin serves as a necessary first step before the curse of famine can be lifted. God promises to distance the people from the sins and transgressions that had become their daily habit He achieves this by awakening their hearts to be careful and avoid wrongdoing [מצודת דוד]. Even though the evil inclination will still exist in the world, God will step in and actively save the people from spiritual impurity [מלבי״ם]. Distancing themselves from these transgressions is the practical way the promise of Israel becoming God's people finally becomes a reality [אברבנאל].

Immediately after the people achieve this spiritual purity, agricultural blessings follow. The return of purity brings back the natural blessing and the sweet fragrance of the fruits that had disappeared because of their past sins [מלבי״ם]. God then issues a command to the crops, ordering them to grow and multiply He carries out this command through direct divine providence, sending blessed rains for the harvest while actively protecting the crops from agricultural blights like blasting and mildew [רד״ק]. This physical plenty is meant to show clearly that God is their God and that He provides for all their needs [אברבנאל].

As a direct result of this divine blessing, famine is completely removed. The abundance of grain ensures there is plenty of food, but it also serves a much deeper purpose. It prevents the people from needing to buy food from the surrounding nations, saving them from the disgrace of hunger and keeping them free from depending on the rest of the world [מלבי״ם, אברבנאל].
