יחזקאל, פרק ל״ו, פסוק י״א

Ezekiel 36:11Sefaria

The promise of redemption carries a vision of restoration and empowerment that goes far beyond merely returning to the glory days of the past; it anticipates an even brighter future. The process unfolds in clear stages: gathering the exiles, settling the land, and reaching a peak of unprecedented abundance that leads to an absolute recognition of God.

The restoration begins with a massive increase in both the people and their property. The birth of new generations is heavily emphasized to highlight the sheer magnitude of this population boom [מצודת דוד]. Although the surviving remnants of the Judean kingdom currently appear small and fragile, they are destined to become a vast multitude [אברבנאל]. Interestingly, the natural order of growth is presented in a unique sequence. Rather than starting with natural reproduction, the population will first swell simply through the massive influx of refugees returning from all corners of the earth. Only after this initial ingathering will the people begin to have children and grow naturally within their homeland [מלבי״ם].

Following this tremendous growth, the people are promised a permanent and secure settlement [מצודת ציון]. This new era of living in the land will restore their condition to what it was before the exile [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The nation will once again experience the majestic royal days of David and Solomon [אברבנאל], or the densely populated and thriving periods of the Second Temple era [מלבי״ם].

However, the ultimate comfort lies in the fact that this future will completely eclipse the past. A careful distinction is made between the nation's recent history and its absolute beginnings. In the end of days, the condition of the Israelites will be even greater than their original historical starting point—surpassing even the miracles of the exodus from Egypt and their very first entry into the land [אברבנאל, מלבי״ם].

The ultimate purpose of this extraordinary abundance is not just physical prosperity, but spiritual clarity. Through the realization of these grand promises, the people will clearly see God's providence and power [מלבי״ם]. They will reach an absolute understanding that He is fully faithful to keep His word and fulfill His promises [מצודת דוד].
