תהלים, פרק ק״ג, פסוק כ״א

Psalms 103:21Sefaria

בָּרְכ֣וּ יְ֭הֹוָה כׇּל־צְבָאָ֑יו מְ֝שָׁרְתָ֗יו עֹשֵׂ֥י רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃

A universal call goes out to the creations of the world, urging them to offer praise to God. The primary approach among commentators is that this invitation is directed specifically at the physical heavens, including the stars, constellations, and planetary spheres. However, a broader perspective views this as an appeal to absolutely all of creation, from the highest realms down to the lowest earthly entities [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Focusing on the celestial realm, these heavenly bodies act as God's dedicated ministers, much like the planets moving steadily in their orbits [אבן עזרא]. Their service is not a temporary task but a permanent, continuous state of devotion [מלבי״ם]. The way they perform God's will is highly unique. They do not wait for a new, direct command or a specific word from God to take action. Instead, they operate by fulfilling His original design established at the very dawn of creation. God set the laws of nature and the cosmic systems in place to last forever, and these celestial bodies carry out His will endlessly and without interruption [מלבי״ם].

Although the stars and planets do not possess the ability to hear God's voice, they still offer their blessing. Their very existence and movement serve as a form of praise, expressing gratitude for the profound privilege of serving God and executing His will throughout the universe [אלשיך].
