תהלים, פרק קל״ו, פסוק י״ב

Psalms 136:12Sefaria

בְּיָ֣ד חֲ֭זָקָה וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

The Exodus from Egypt was far more than a simple story of national liberation. It was a powerful display of divine strength and open miracles that left a lasting impact on the entire world. God showed His immense power through the Ten Plagues and other wonders [רד״ק, מאירי, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This act of rescue is compared to a mighty warrior raising His hand against an enemy in the middle of battle [מצודת דוד]. Such an overwhelming show of force ensured that the Israelites left Egypt publicly and proudly, rather than sneaking away in secret like escaping slaves [אבן עזרא, מצודת דוד].

On a deeper spiritual level, this divine power was also directed at higher forces. God actively blocked heavenly accusers, specifically the spiritual guardian of Egypt who tried to prevent the redemption. God ultimately defeated and took revenge on this spiritual entity [אלשיך].

Alongside this display of power, God showed profound kindness in two main ways. First, He performed a miraculous rescue for the Israelites, protecting them completely from the severe plagues that struck the Egyptians living right next to them [רד״ק]. Second, this kindness was ultimately for the survival of the entire world. Even if the Israelites did not deserve to be saved based on their own actions, God redeemed them anyway. If they had been lost and completely absorbed into Egyptian society, the world itself would have lost its reason to exist and would have been destroyed along with them [אלשיך].
