יחזקאל, פרק כ״ט, פסוק י׳

A severe divine judgment is directed at the leader of Egypt and the nation's vital resources. God declares that He is going to war against the Egyptian ruler and the country's water supply. By targeting the river, God intends to destroy the waters of the Nile, completely stripping away the natural abundance and goodness that sustain the land [מצודת דוד]. This sweeping devastation is to be carried out by Nebuchadnezzar, whose forces will bring absolute ruin to the empire [מלבי״ם].

The impending catastrophe is rooted in a profound physical destruction [מצודת ציון]. It goes beyond a standard defeat into a massive, overwhelming ruin that will leave the land in a state of total desolation [רד״ק, מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם]. Alongside the physical ruin, this devastation also brings severe dryness and drought, turning a once-fertile empire entirely barren [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The scope of this disaster will leave no part of the country untouched, stretching across the region from one end to the other. The devastation will begin at the starting point of the Egyptian border in the north [מצודת דוד] and sweep all the way down to the southern edge bordering the land of Cush [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
