Emerging from hiding, David faces a tense and delicate moment as he finally makes his presence known. After Saul exits, David chooses a carefully calculated time to reveal himself. He waits until a certain distance grows between them, and only when he stands in a more comfortable and secure position does he call out to Saul [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

As Saul turns around upon hearing the call, David gives him the honor fit for a king. Bending the top of his head and lowering his face [מצודת ציון], David drops completely to the earth. He falls upon his face to bow in deep respect before the king [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
