Stepping into the role of a prophet carries a heavy burden. The mission requires rebuking the people, telling them what the future holds, and urging them to return to the right path. Because this task is so demanding and will inevitably spark fierce opposition, God guarantees His personal protection [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The resistance the prophet faces will unfold on two distinct fronts. Primarily, the battle will be spiritual and verbal. Opponents will argue fiercely, attempting to contradict and disprove the prophecies by claiming they are simply untrue [רש״י, רד״ק, צאינה וראינה]. At the same time, the struggle will take on a cunning tactical dimension. Rather than just launching a direct assault, enemies will try to get close to him, attacking indirectly or from the sidelines. They will use various schemes and tricks to make him stumble [מלבי״ם].

Despite the intensity of these attacks, the opponents will lack the power to overcome or defeat him [מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The ultimate reason for this resilience is that God will stand directly by his side to save him. No matter how harsh the struggle becomes, the enemies will never succeed in taking his life [רד״ק].
