This prophetic period lasted throughout the rule of Josiah's dynasty, only coming to an end with the fall of their kingdom and the exile of Jerusalem [אברבנאל]. The mission continued through the reigns of subsequent kings, such as Jehoiakim [צאינה וראינה]. Although certain kings from this royal line, like Jehoahaz and Jehoiachin, are omitted from the historical timeline, this is simply because they each ruled for only a few months. Their brief periods of leadership are naturally absorbed into the timelines of the primary kings [אברבנאל].

Recording the exact year of Josiah's reign when the mission began serves to highlight the total length of Jeremiah's calling. By adding the remaining years of Josiah's rule to the reigns of Jehoiakim and Zedekiah leading up to the destruction of the Temple, a clear timeline emerges.
