Speaking concerning these false prophets [מצודת ציון, ביאור שטיינזלץ], the true prophet expresses a profound, agonizing sorrow that shatters his heart [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This emotional devastation manifests physically. His bones tremble and flutter like the wings of a hovering bird [רש״י, מצודת ציון], or feel as though they are falling apart and detaching from their joints [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. He compares this disorienting state to a man completely overcome by wine, stripped of his normal senses and left in a state of deep mental confusion [רד״ק, מלבי״ם].

The primary approach among commentators is that this severe crisis is triggered by the actions of the false prophets. The prophet's heart breaks because these imposters actively mislead the people with empty promises of peace, preventing the nation from repenting in response to the warnings of true prophets [רש״י, רד״ק].
