Proverbs 15:6Sefaria

The true stability of a home is measured not by its physical building materials, but by the moral purity of its inhabitants and the source of the wealth that flows into it. There is a profound contrast between the enduring strength of those who do good and the inevitable ruin that follows those who do evil, especially when the two worlds collide.

The primary approach among commentators is that the home of the righteous is filled with guarded treasures. Because of their good deeds, they receive God's careful watchfulness, which grants them strength and protection from the natural decay of time. In stark contrast, the property and possessions of the wicked carry a hidden curse. No matter how much they gather, their wealth will ultimately spoil and be destroyed

Beyond a simple contrast, there is a severe warning against joining these two opposing forces. It is far better for a good person's home to remain completely empty than to be filled with wealth gained through theft or through a business partnership with a corrupt individual. The moment tainted property enters a pure home, a curse attaches itself not just to the stolen items, but to the entire household, bringing absolute ruin This destructive influence extends to people as well. If a wicked person is allowed to physically enter or grow up inside the home of a righteous family, their mere presence strips away the home's merit and purity, eventually causing its downfall

On a deeper, personal level, the concept of a home serves as a symbol for the human body and soul. A healthy inner life is built on a solid foundation of justice and pure thinking. However, when improper desires, wrongdoing, and evil urges are allowed to enter the mind, they quickly corrupt and destroy a person's entire inner world Looking at the broader path of history, this dynamic played out on a national scale with the Temple in Jerusalem. Originally established by King David as a fortress of strength and purity for the Israelites, the sacred home was ultimately corrupted and ruined when King Manasseh brought an idol directly into its holy spaces [רש״י].
