ירמיהו, פרק ז׳, פסוק ל״ב

A notorious site once dedicated to idol worship is destined for a drastic and dark transformation. The area, originally known for the high places where worshippers would beat drums and proudly celebrate their rituals [צאינה וראינה], will entirely lose its former identity. Instead, it will be renamed to reflect its grim new reality as a valley of slaughter. This title will serve as a permanent record of its future role as the exact location where countless sinners among the Israelites will fall and be killed [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The sheer volume of casualties will create an overwhelming crisis. Historically, this specific area had never been used for graves and was actually considered impure for burial even by the followers of other religions. However, the massive number of bodies will force the survivors to convert the site into a sprawling cemetery [רד"ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The dead will be buried there continuously until absolutely no vacant ground remains. Once every available space is entirely filled, the tragic reality will peak. The remaining bodies will simply be left lying in the open, abandoned as food for the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth [מלבי"ם, צאינה וראינה].
