God's anger is unleashed with overwhelming force and speed upon the sinners, striking the entire city and land without distinction [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The outpouring of His divine wrath is a rapid descent that strikes its target directly [רש״י], acting as a complete pouring and emptying out of fury [מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון]. This imagery highlights the sheer speed of the coming disaster, rushing forward much like a molten liquid that pours out in an unstoppable flood [רד״ק].

The scope of this destruction is absolute. It sweeps across the land, leaving nothing untouched as it claims the lives of humans, animals, and even the plant life [מצודת דוד]. The burning nature of this anger is so intense that it requires no literal fire to be felt. The rage itself radiates a fierce heat, stemming from the natural, internal fire that gives birth to anger and wrath [רד״ק]. This consuming heat will not be quenched.
