The entrance to the courtyard of the Tabernacle was carefully designed with specific measurements for its boundaries. On one side of the courtyard gate, hangings were spread out to cover a length of fifteen cubits.
To keep this span of material upright and secure, a precise system of supports was utilized. Three pillars, resting firmly in three matching sockets, held up the hangings. These pillars were evenly distributed along the fifteen-cubit stretch, with one support positioned exactly every five cubits.
