Following a period of global upheaval and the purification of the earth, humanity is destined to undergo an unprecedented spiritual transformation. In the aftermath of the great war of Gog and Magog, the surviving nations will witness the wonders of God and completely abandon their idolatrous practices However, this promise of spiritual renewal does not apply uniformly to all of humanity. By addressing nations generally rather than all nations without exception, the prophecy suggests that this process will primarily affect those already closer to the belief in one God, such as the descendants of Ishmael, rather than explicit enemies of the Torah like Edom [אברבנאל].
At the heart of this transformation is the gift of a clear, accurate, and pure language Commentators offer two main perspectives on the nature of this new speech. One approach views it as a theological purification. While nations previously blended false beliefs and idol worship with their recognition of God, their future speech will be entirely cleansed of any mention of other gods. They will call upon God with absolute faith in His unity [מלבי״ם, רד״ק]. A second approach understands this as a physical transition to speaking the Holy Tongue. In this view, Hebrew is the only language truly fitting to call upon the honored name of God, and it will replace the vague languages of the nations
This dramatic shift represents a return to the original state of the world before the sin of the Tower of Babel, when the entire earth spoke a single language. God will reverse the ancient confusion of tongues and restore humanity to its pristine state. Even if the nations do not speak perfect Hebrew like the Israelites, their speech will become fluent and precise in pronouncing the name of God, free from any mixture of pagan names [אברבנאל]. Ultimately, this restoration of a unified language will inevitably bring about a unified faith [מצודת דוד].
This newfound harmony is illustrated by the image of a single shoulder, depicting a shared physical effort Moving past a history fractured by different sects and competing religions, all of humanity will unite with one heart, one mind, and combined strength Like workers bending their shoulders together to bear a heavy load, the nations will join forces to carry the yoke of the kingdom of heaven and the yoke of the Torah [מלבי״ם, אברבנאל]. The greatest wonder of this era is that nations once steeped in deep hatred and endless wars will join together in complete agreement to serve the Creator [אברבנאל].
