The daily operation of the altar required a set of tools crafted with exact precision, as every action involved in offering sacrifices and maintaining the fire demanded a specific instrument. Each item in this coordinated system had a clearly defined role.
The pots were used for the regular, ongoing work. Shovels were designed to sweep away the ash that accumulated on the altar. Basins served the purpose of collecting the blood from the sacrifices so it could be sprinkled onto the altar. For handling the meat of the offerings, forks were used to safely place the portions onto the fire and turn them. Finally, firepans allowed for the scooping and moving of glowing coals. This entire system of tools, designed specifically to serve the altar, was crafted entirely from copper.
