The sudden assassination of the king unfolds with lethal precision and overwhelming force. Drawing his weapon, Jehu applies the full strength of his hand to the bow, pulling it back completely to ensure the arrow is released with maximum power.

There are differing perspectives regarding the exact distance of the shot. One approach suggests that Jehu fired early from a considerable distance, far from the actual plot of Naboth's land [מלבי״ם]. Another perspective argues that the execution happened at close range, pointing out that Jehoram was entirely unprepared and not wearing any protective battle armor at the time [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Fired with immense strength, the arrow strikes directly between the king's arms. It penetrates with such violence that it pierces straight through, exiting from the back of his heart [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Upon suffering this fatal blow, Jehoram instantly collapses to his knees within his chariot and dies on the spot [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
