He looks up toward the window of her house and calls out to the people inside, asking if there is anyone in the household who is on his side and ready to help him. The primary approach among commentators is that this is a direct appeal to find allies within the palace walls.

In response to his call, two or three court officials, specifically royal ministers [מצודת ציון], look down at him from inside the building. The simple act of looking out through the window serves as their silent answer. By showing themselves, they send a clear message that they are present and fully prepared to carry out his orders [מצודת דוד].
