שמואל א, פרק כ״ו, פסוק כ״ה

The dramatic meeting between the king and his rival concludes in a tense quiet. Though a violent clash is avoided, the deep conflict between Saul and David remains entirely unresolved. The primary approach among commentators is that Saul uses his parting words to fully acknowledge his rival's bright future. He openly recognizes that David is a blessed man, destined for greatness. Saul declares that David will go on to perform great and wonderful deeds, and more importantly, that he possesses the true capability to succeed in all of them.

Despite hearing Saul express deep regret and admit to his grave mistakes once again, David remains cautious. He understands perfectly well that the king's remorse cannot be trusted. The encounter ends with a temporary separation of forces. Saul pauses his relentless pursuit for the moment and returns home with his men, while David continues on his own path.
