I Samuel 30:19Sefaria

The aftermath of the battle resulted in a total and absolute victory, defined by the complete recovery of every single loss. Whether dealing with human lives or material possessions, the restoration was entirely comprehensive, with absolutely nothing left behind or missing [מצודת ציון]. The rescue operation successfully retrieved all captives, spanning all ages and generations. It is particularly noteworthy that the young children, who were naturally more vulnerable and weaker than the adults, survived the ordeal and were brought back completely unharmed [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Regarding the recovered property, the spoils fell into distinct categories [מלבי״ם]. First, there was the general plunder from the conflict that the enemy forces had not yet divided among themselves. Second, there were the specific items that individual enemy soldiers had already claimed and taken for their own personal use [מלבי״ם]. Every piece of this property was reclaimed. Expanding on the sheer scale of this victory, another perspective notes that David did not just retrieve the belongings of his own men. He also secured all the additional spoils that the Amalekite forces had previously looted from other regions, including the territories of the Philistines, the Negev of Judah, and Caleb [מצודת דוד].
