וְהָיָ֗ה מִֽדֵּי־חֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ בְּחׇדְשׁ֔וֹ וּמִדֵּ֥י שַׁבָּ֖ת בְּשַׁבַּתּ֑וֹ יָב֧וֹא כׇל־בָּשָׂ֛ר לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֥ת לְפָנַ֖י אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃

A vision of the future reveals an era of unprecedented spiritual and physical movement, where all of humanity unites in recognizing God's absolute kingship. People from every corner of the earth will embark on a continuous, uninterrupted journey to Jerusalem to bow before Him.

This pilgrimage will be a constant flow rather than a sporadic event [מצודת ציון, רד״ק, אבן עזרא]. The arrivals will be timed perfectly, taking place exactly on the days of the Sabbath and the New Moon without delay [מצודת דוד, אבן עזרא]. This high frequency marks a significant shift from history. While the Israelites previously traveled to Jerusalem only three times a year, the future era will see these journeys happening every single month [צאינה וראינה]. This change is partly driven by a cosmic elevation of the heavenly bodies, transforming every Sabbath and New Moon into a major, full-fledged holiday [אהבת יהונתן].

The promise of this global gathering extends far beyond the people of Israel. It includes all of humanity, encompassing every nation, as foreign peoples arrive at the Temple to worship. The crowds of pilgrims will also naturally include women [אהבת יהונתן]. Because the sheer number of travelers will be so massive, they will not all arrive at once. Instead, people will travel in organized shifts, creating a steady stream of visitors from week to week and month to month [שד״ל, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The specific timing of the Sabbath and the New Moon reflects the geographic distances of the travelers. Those living close to Jerusalem will make the journey every Sabbath, while those residing in distant lands will arrive every New Moon [רד״ק, צאינה וראינה]. With every passing holiday, new individuals from various nations will arrive, casting aside their idols to embrace the true faith [מלבי״ם].

As part of this journey to Jerusalem, the travelers will witness the punishment of the wicked who are judged in Gehenna, a judgment that lasts for twelve months [אבן עזרא, צאינה וראינה]. Witnessing this fate serves a profound spiritual purpose. It naturally eliminates evil inclinations and physical desires, ensuring that the massive, mixed crowds of men and women can travel together to Jerusalem in complete purity, free from any fear of sin [אהבת יהונתן].
