It will leave behind absolutely no survivors or refugees [מצודת ציון], ensuring that no one will be saved from the coming destruction [מצודת דוד]. The harshness of this outcome is not merely a tragic accident caused by the political instability of the region. While war and starvation will certainly sweep through the entire land of Egypt, the people who chose to flee there will face an additional reality. They will be targeted by a specific, intentional punishment directly from God. It is this exact, divine intervention that ensures their total and final destruction, rather than just the general unrest of the area [מלבי״ם].
