Isaiah 66:14Sefaria

וּרְאִיתֶם֙ וְשָׂ֣שׂ לִבְּכֶ֔ם וְעַצְמוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם כַּדֶּ֣שֶׁא תִפְרַ֑חְנָה וְנוֹדְעָ֤ה יַד־יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־עֲבָדָ֔יו וְזָעַ֖ם אֶת־אֹיְבָֽיו׃ {ס}

The transition from exile to redemption brings a dramatic shift, transforming the mental and physical state of the Israelites while revealing divine justice to the world. A long-held hope finally becomes a visible reality, sparking a profound sense of renewal. When the Israelites witness the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the fulfillment of their redemption, a fundamental change takes place. During the long years of exile, the belief in redemption brought only a hidden, quiet hope and joy within the heart. However, once they see this salvation with their own eyes, that joy will burst outward and become completely visible The heart, representing the soul and the inner core of a person, is the first to experience this gladness [אבן עזרא].

From the heart, this joy spreads outward to the rest of the body, specifically to the bones, which form the body's physical foundation [אבן עזרא]. These bones will undergo a process of deep renewal, flourishing and growing like fresh grass in a field [מצודת ציון]. The primary approach among commentators explains this as a stark contrast to the past. While the worry and sadness of exile dried out the bones and left the body looking shriveled and old, the pure joy of redemption will bring robust health, renewed youth, and fresh vitality. Alternatively, this physical renewal serves as a literal hint to the resurrection of the dead. In this future time, bones will reconnect in perfect order without any confusion, just as different types of grass naturally grow sorted by their own kind [אהבת יהונתן].

Alongside this personal renewal, the world will witness a clear revelation of divine providence. Throughout history, the reward for the righteous and the punishment for the wicked were not always obvious, leading many to deny that such justice even existed. In the time of redemption, however, God’s power will be undeniably clear to everyone [מלבי״ם]. God's guiding hand will be directly with His servants, actively supporting them, avenging their suffering, and rewarding them with good At the exact same time, this revelation will bring fierce anger and punishment upon the enemies who stood against God, an event that may take place during the ultimate war of Gog and Magog Ultimately, witnessing these historic events will lead God’s servants to truly recognize and understand both His immense power and His deep kindness
