Job makes a firm declaration to his friends, seeking to reveal profound truths about divine justice and his own integrity while confronting their ongoing suspicions. He commits to guiding them toward the correct path without hiding or denying any part of the truth. The primary approach among commentators is that Job wants to explain God's ways and traits [רש״י, רמב״ן]. His goal is not to lead his friends astray, but to help them understand God's governance so they do not wrongly accuse Him of injustice regarding how the righteous and the wicked are treated. Even though the world operates on a predetermined system, he still urges them to choose what is right [מצודת דוד].

Job promises to speak only the absolute truth about God. Because God hates flattery and deceit, Job demands that his friends follow suit and avoid showing favoritism [רמב״ן, מלבי״ם]. He is fully prepared to teach that everything rests in God's control, a reality he refuses to hide [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Job speaks with such deep confidence that it is as if God Himself is declaring these truths through him [מלבי״ם].

Another perspective suggests that Job is not simply teaching about God's control, but is actually handing the entire judgment over to Him. Since humans cannot read hearts and might wrongly suspect Job of hiding secret wickedness, he proposes leaving the dispute entirely to God, the ultimate judge [אלשיך, תקות אנוש]. God alone will see the pureness of Job's heart and deal with those who doubt him [אלשיך]. Taking this a step further, Job issues a harsh warning that he will leave his friends in God's hands so that He may punish them for their false accusations [תקות אנוש].

To further prove his honesty, Job offers a simple reason why he cannot be suspected of hiding the truth. A person who is already battered and struck by God's arrows has no energy or desire to lie or play games with others. Therefore, everything he says in God's name is completely genuine [אלשיך].
