The ultimate vision of redemption promises a close, eternal bond between God and Israel, where the Divine Presence rests directly on the people. This connection is compared to a spiritual campsite, a permanent place where God truly dwells [מצודת ציון, צאינה וראינה]. While the Divine Presence is usually described as living within the nation, the unique imagery of it resting upon the people suggests a constant awareness and awe of God that blankets them from above, even as His glory lives inside them forever [רד״ק]. Furthermore, this highlights that God's presence is never confined to the physical walls of the Temple. Even when the physical sanctuary stands, God rests directly upon the righteous, transforming the people themselves into a living sanctuary [אדרת אליהו].

This promised relationship is entirely mutual and exclusive. God acting as their God means that He will actively help and save them. In return, the Israelites acting as His people means they will live with deep faith in Him and carefully observe His commandments [מצודת דוד].

Experiencing this tangible revelation of God will completely destroy any lingering desire for idolatry. Historically, pagan beliefs justified the worship of celestial bodies by claiming that honoring the Creator's servants was a valid way to honor the Creator Himself. However, once the Divine Presence is openly visible, it will become obvious that one does not pay tribute to a servant when the Master is standing right there. This clear reality will prove to everyone that God's glory fills the entire world, establishing that He alone is their God, and they are exclusively His people [אדרת אליהו].
