שמואל א, פרק י׳, פסוק י״ג

I Samuel 10:13Sefaria

וַיְכַל֙ מֵֽהִתְנַבּ֔וֹת וַיָּבֹ֖א הַבָּמָֽה׃

Following an intense spiritual awakening, Saul completes his prophetic experience and directs his steps toward the local place of worship. On a practical level, the band of prophets had originally encountered Saul outside this site, having just descended from it. Once Saul finishes prophesying alongside them, he ascends and enters the structure himself [רד״ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Beyond the physical movement, Saul's decision to enter the place of worship at this specific moment carries deeper spiritual significance, highlighting a fundamental difference between his experience and that of the band of prophets [מלבי״ם]. The prophets transitioned from the place of worship into a state of prophecy. They used their prayers and service to God at the site as a necessary preparation, and only through this focused effort did the prophetic spirit rest upon them.

For Saul, the process occurred in the exact opposite order. The spirit of God descended upon him suddenly, without any prior preparation on his part. Rather than preparing for prophecy, the sudden prophecy itself is what prepared him for a life of holiness and reverence for God. Only after undergoing this profound experience did a desire awaken within him to visit the place of worship, prompting him to go there to pray and serve God.
