A vision of the future division of the land presents a model for an ideal, uncorrupted government. At the center of this new society is the leader, identified as the Messianic King [רד״ק], who is granted an independent and massive estate equivalent in size to the territory of an entire tribe [מלבי״ם, אברבנאל]. A specific region is entirely dedicated to him and will bear his name [מלבי״ם].
This extraordinary land grant is designed to solve a painful historical problem. In the past, the kings of Israel did not possess their own inherited land. As a result, they often abused their royal power to steal fields and vineyards from poor citizens, similar to the tragic events involving Ahab and the vineyard of Naboth [רד״ק, מלבי״ם, אברבנאל]. To ensure this history does not repeat itself, the future arrangement is meant to permanently eliminate such oppression, extortion, and financial theft [רש״י, מצודת ציון, מלבי״ם].
By providing the leader with an enormous estate, all of his personal and royal needs will be supplied in abundance, removing any temptation to exploit the nation [מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם, אברבנאל, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Beyond this economic security, the future leaders will be guided by a renewed heart and a deep reverence for God, ensuring they never harm the people [רד״ק]. Once this vast royal estate is set aside, the remainder of the land of Israel will be distributed equally and fairly among all the Israelite tribes [מצודת דוד, אברבנאל, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
