Judges 4:7Sefaria

God's promise to Barak guarantees direct divine intervention on the battlefield, actively steering the enemy forces toward the exact location of their downfall. God oversees the entire campaign by placing a specific desire in Sisera's heart, drawing him to gather his camp at the Kishon River Behind this divine pull lies a dramatic sequence of events. Sisera's own astrologers had actually foreseen his defeat in this war and warned him not to engage in battle. However, God pulled at Sisera's heart, causing him to ignore their warnings and march forward anyway [רד״ק].

The planned confrontation at the Kishon River is far from a random choice. Barak is meant to descend from Mount Tabor and initiate the battle near the river, an area selected in advance because its terrain is highly suitable for maneuvering both iron chariots and foot soldiers [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Sisera will arrive at this location with his chariots and a massive army. The sheer size of his forces is characterized by the loud noise and intense commotion that such a huge crowd generates

Ultimately, this carefully orchestrated sequence of events leads to a miraculous conclusion. By following this detailed plan, God's promise to hand the enemy over to Barak will be fulfilled through a miracle, decisively securing the victory [מלבי״ם].
