A tragic regression unfolds as the current generation turns backward, fully embracing the corruption of their ancestors. This widespread betrayal shatters their historic covenant with God and seals a harsh judgment without the possibility of mercy. The people have actively returned to the sinful paths of their early forefathers [מצודת דוד], specifically mirroring the deeply flawed generations ruled by kings Amon, Manasseh, and Ahaz [רד״ק].

They flatly refused to listen to God's voice [מצודת ציון]. Instead of merely repeating the mistakes of the past, they expanded upon them, actively choosing to pursue and worship foreign gods [מצודת דוד]. Through these actions, the people completely canceled and broke their sacred agreement with God [מצודת ציון]. This rebellion was not an isolated issue but a joint effort across the entire nation. The House of Judah acted exactly as the House of Israel did, uniting in their betrayal [מצודת דוד].

Because of their countless evil deeds and their continuous angering of God, disaster has become completely unavoidable. A point of no return has been reached; even if the nation cries out in prayer, God will no longer listen, nor will He rescue them from their impending punishment [רד״ק].
