Job 6:11Sefaria

Pushed to the limits of human endurance, a suffering person often reaches a point where the promise of a better tomorrow loses all meaning. Responding to friends who try to offer encouragement by insisting his agony is temporary and will lead to a positive outcome, Job expresses absolute physical and mental despair. He feels he has no strength left to endure the pain while hoping and waiting for a day of healing His friends, specifically Eliphaz, suggest that suffering serves to cleanse a person of sin. Job counters this by explaining that his body is already shattered beyond repair. Even if God were to heal him eventually, his strength is so depleted that he could never return to his former health; his future would only be a continuous life of sorrow [מצודת דוד, אלשיך]. His internal fortitude is simply too weak to overcome the severe disease currently consuming his flesh [מלבי"ם].

Beyond his physical weakness, Job questions the very purpose of trying to maintain his will to live or stretching out his patience This deep sense of futility is rooted in the natural brevity of human life. Since his remaining days are short regardless of his circumstances, there is no logic in drawing out his patience to endure severe agony now, merely to secure a few good days at the end. From this perspective, it is better to die immediately rather than cling to life [מצודת דוד, אלשיך]. Furthermore, even if he could somehow gather the willpower to endure and not yield immediately to the sheer pain, the effort remains pointless. His inevitable end is the grave due to the fatal nature of his illness, leaving him with no relief or positive outcome to anticipate [רמב"ן, מלבי"ם, תקות אנוש]. Because he is already broken in every conceivable way, any further waiting is entirely meaningless [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
