I Samuel 2:16Sefaria

A tense confrontation at the Tabernacle captures the deep corruption that had taken root among the priesthood. An ordinary person simply bringing a sacrifice finds himself standing against a priest's servant who is disrespectful, arbitrary, and ready to use violence. When the servant demands his portion of the meat, the worshiper wishes to maintain the proper order of the service and refuses to hand it over before burning the required fat on the altar. The primary approach among commentators is that the man's central argument rests on respect: it is entirely inappropriate to take a human portion before offering God His rightful portion.

Trying to calm the situation, the man assures the servant that the fat will be burned immediately that very day, without any delay until tomorrow He politely suggests that the servant simply wait until the offering to God is complete. Once that is done, the servant is welcome to take whatever his heart desires, whether he prefers the meat raw or cooked, and whichever cut he chooses

Instead of accepting this reasonable offer, the servant replies with short, aggressive hostility. The dual nature of his recorded response reflects both a direct demand spoken to the worshiper and a flat, blunt refusal to compromise He absolutely refuses to wait, demanding the meat right then and there, even before the fat is offered to God [מצודת דוד]. In doing so, the servant makes it clear that he views himself as the ultimate authority in the Tabernacle [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Pushing the confrontation further, he threatens to take the meat by force against the worshiper's will if his demands are not met immediately [מצודת ציון]. This crude threat exposes the true character of the priests' servants during this period, revealing men who were willing to extort and steal with violence, showing a complete disregard for justice and the laws of the Tabernacle [מלבי״ם].
