The enemies of Israel face a future of complete and final elimination. The destruction awaiting those who wage war against them is so absolute that it will seem as though these adversaries never existed at all [צאינה וראינה].

The extent of this total disappearance is highlighted by the fact that even if one were to actively search for these enemies, they would be impossible to find [רד״ק, מצודת דוד]. This presents a striking reversal of circumstances. Historically, the enemies were the ones aggressively hunting down their targets to cause harm. In the future, however, the victims will be the ones looking for their former oppressors, only to discover that they have vanished entirely [מלבי״ם].

The primary approach among commentators is to view these adversaries as people driven by constant strife and hostility. Yet, a deeper distinction is made regarding the nature of their aggression. While standard disputes might remain purely verbal, the hostility of these particular enemies involves actual physical violence and harm [מלבי״ם].

To emphasize the sheer magnitude of their downfall, the concept of disappearance is repeated, underscoring that these warmongers will be left without any remaining substance [מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון]. They will be reduced to a state of absolute negation and non-existence [אבן עזרא]. This twofold destruction unfolds in stages for those who fight to take lives. During the actual conflict, the enemies will suddenly find themselves completely powerless. Then, in the aftermath of the battle, they will cease to exist entirely, wiped out from the world [מלבי״ם].
