I Samuel 1:16Sefaria

Defending her honor and revealing her profound emotional pain, a desperate woman stands before the High Priest to explain her unusual behavior. Accused of drunkenness, she seeks to clear her name and share the true, heartbreaking motive behind her intense prayer.

She pleads with the priest not to associate her with someone who has cast off the authority of God [מצודת ציון]. Commentators offer two main ways to understand her defense. One approach suggests she is asking him not to judge her as a wicked, immoral woman who would dare enter the Tabernacle in a drunken state Another perspective reads her plea more literally, understanding it as a request not to abandon her to the cruelty of her rival wife. In this view, she begs the priest not to shame her and leave her vulnerable to the mockery of a rival who would gladly rejoice in her downfall, asking instead for the support of his prayers

She then explains that her extended prayer stems entirely from deep sorrow and bitterness. She recounts her hardships, expressing the intense pain, anger, and jealousy provoked by her rival Pouring out all of this anguish before God is her only way to calm the turmoil in her heart and find relief from her suffering [רלב״ג].

Finally, she addresses the sheer length of her silent plea. In that era, such a prolonged prayer was highly unusual, which naturally aroused the priest's suspicion. She clarifies that it was not wine, but the overwhelming weight of her distress and frustration that caused her words to flow for so long
