Ultimately, this revelation shattered pagan beliefs that divided control between gods of the sky and gods of the earth [רלב״ג], or that assigned independent power to angels and astrological signs [מלבי״ם]. The experience proved that no force can ever oppose God's will [ביאור שטיינזלץ], to the point that even acts of sorcery cannot function without His direct consent [תורה תמימה].
